Highlights From Last Weeks CISAA Championships

Senior D1 Girls’ Tennis
Congratulations to our Senior Girls’ 1st and 3rd singles players Avery Templeman ‘25 and Kiran Chaudhry ‘26 for capturing Gold at CISAA last week, and to Diviya Amarnath ‘25, the team’s 2nd singles player, for placing 4th. Diviya was also the team’s only qualifier for the OFSAA provincial championships this year taking place June 3-5. 

Layla Campoli ‘24 and Diya Mangat ‘25 also enjoyed a strong season as 1st doubles players and were terrific supporters and mentors to Aneesa Khan ‘27 and Nicole Wu ‘27 in the 2nd doubles position. Overall, the CDS girls team came in 4th place, and according to Coach Aimee Lee, enjoyed their best season in years.

 
Senior D1 Co-ed Badminton
The team traveled to TCS for a full day of competitive badminton at the CISAA Championships last Wednesday and enjoyed the following results:
  • Zhi Wei Zhang ‘25 finished 5th in Boys’ Singles 1 
  • Jason Liang ‘25 secured 3rd in Boys’ Singles 2
  • Ryan Chen ‘24 finished 5th in Boys’ Singles 3
  • Ella Huang ‘25 placed 7th in Girls’ Singles 1
  • Belinda Cheng ‘25 came in 9th in Girls’ Singles 2
  • Lily Chen ‘25 took 5th in Girls’ Singles 3 
As a team, the Boys finished 6th, the Girls finished 11th, and the Co-ed team placed 8th overall. Congratulations to all our players for their hard work and dedication! – Coach O’Connor

U14 Boys’ Slow Pitch
Congratulations to this team for winning CISAA Silver Tuesday with a convincing win in the semi-final match vs Bayview Glen, losing in the finals by one run to the first place team, Sterling Hall. The team represented CDS very well with wonderful effort and sportsmanship, as well as great pitching, base running, hitting and defense!⚾️🧢👏 – Coaches Young and Vien

Senior Track Team CISAA and Metro Championship Results 
It's been a busy few weeks for members of our Senior Track team! After capturing 12 1st, five 2nd and three 3rd place medals at CISAA ​t​wo weeks ago, 13 of our athletes went on to compete at Metro Championships last Thursday and Friday.

​Everyone put forth an incredible effort in their event(s)​, including our Junior Boys​' relay team who ​m​issed qualifying for OFSAA by 100th of a second!

Congrats to our six students who qualified for OFSAA​ taking place on June 6-8:
  • Alex Estabrooks ‘24 - 1st in 400m and 3rd in 200m
  • Mackenzie Stewart ‘27 - 1st in 80mH and 3rd in 300mH
  • Cole Sheppard ‘24 - 2nd in 400mH
  • Thomas Tran ‘25 - 3rd in shot put
  • Juliet Chieduch ‘26 - 3rd in 800m
  • Eamon Sheppard ‘26 - 4th in 200m

Senior Co-ed Ultimate Frisbee
Congratulations to the Ultimate Frisbee team who took home CISAA Gold Wednesday on Wyndham-West Field! After winning in the semi-finals against TCS, CDS jumped out to an early lead against TFS before ultimately being rained-out. Final score 9-4 for the Cyclones!
