CDS Grads are going places!
Although they will be Cyclones forever, we are excited that our grads are about to become Gryphons, Rams, Thunderbirds, Bulldogs, Bears and Foxes at wonderful colleges and universities across Canada and beyond.
In total, 26 different institutions have made the list of destinations for our 79 graduates, including some traditional favorites and a few first timers.
Queen’s University leads the charge with 14 of our best and brightest heading down the highway to Kingston. University of Toronto, University of Guelph, Western University, Wilfrid Laurier, McGill and Huron University at Western round out the top seven. We are represented from coast-to-coast with students enrolling at Dalhousie and The University of British Columbia (all three for Engineering).
Six students have accepted offers to U.S. universities for September, including Georgetown University, Georgia Institute of Technology, New York University, Rollins College, Brigham Young University and the University of Miami.
Heading overseas, two students will be studying at the University of Leicester, and one at each London School of Economics and Political Science, Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, The University of Edinburgh and Queen Mary University of London.
In what continues to be an example of the balance that we strive for here at CDS, our graduates are once again pursuing a broad range of disciplines in their post-secondary pursuits. Broken into the three major academic categories, this year’s GYs are split between the Life and Physical Sciences, Business & Law, and the Arts and Social Sciences. Some unique and interesting disciplines include: Biomedical Engineering, Government and International Relations, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Industrial Design, Landscape Architecture, Marine & Freshwater Biology, Mineral Engineering and Molecular Biology & Genetics.
We are extremely proud of this group and will miss them dearly.
Land Acknowledgment
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
