The Junior Boys’ Basketball team has been unstoppable this term, blazing through their competition with an impressive 6-0 record to secure first place in their division. Their journey so far has been a showcase of skill, determination, and teamwork.
The Cyclones began their season on the road, taking on four challenging opponents: Appleby College, Villanova, St. Andrew’s College (SAC), and Holy Trinity School (HTS). The team delivered dominant performances in each matchup, demonstrating their resilience and ability to adapt.
Coaches Tony Young and Timur Saklica credit the team’s success to a harmonious mix of seasoned Grade 10 players and a wave of talented Grade 9s stepping up to the challenge. “This team also possesses great leadership and enthusiasm – a winning combination,” said Coach Young.
Yesterday, the Cyclones faced their toughest challenge yet, hosting Ridley College on home turf. Both teams entered the contest undefeated, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown. Ridley jumped out to an early lead, and the Cyclones found themselves trailing at halftime.
In a remarkable third quarter, they flipped the game on its head, outscoring Ridley by an incredible 20 points. Ethan Su ’27 was a force on offense, but it was the collective effort of the entire team that turned the tide. With unwavering determination, the Cyclones held off Ridley’s late push to seal a 61-57 victory.
