CDS 50th Anniversary Book for sale!

“To the visionaries who came before and the dreamers yet to come.”

During The Country Day School’s 50th anniversary year (2022-2023), a dedicated contingent of staff, retired faculty, alumni and past parents collaborated to chronicle CDS’s first half century in the form of a beautiful 50th anniversary coffee table book entitled Vision & Wonder.

Over 162 vibrant pages and hundreds of engaging photographs, this 11” x 13” hardcover book chronicles the dreams, hopes, joys and challenges of the first 50 years of our school community.

What unfolded since the fateful day when the car of CDS’s first Head of School, John Pratt, broke down in front of the small white house belonging to future and legendary custodians Di and Bing Hawksworth - and the Eversley Schoolhouse next door – is a remarkable and inspiring story.

With its historical perspectives, themed reflections, interviews, archival photographs, lists of key milestones, Vision & Wonder has been a joy to create. We know that joy – the joy of learning, discovery and lasting, nurturing relationships - is something you will also find within its pages.

Further information regarding how you can purchase your copy of Vision and Wonder can be found here

Have a remarkable start to the new school year everyone!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
