Andy – Grade 9

“I love how interconnected the teachers are in your life, especially in Homeroom. They really want to get to know you and help you, which also happens during extracurriculars. As coaches and advisors, they make connections through your passions, and as teachers throughout the school day. It’s really easy to pursue your passions in both academics and athletics at CDS.”

Andy has been at CDS since Grade 7 and plays soccer in the fall and is on the track team during winter and spring terms. He was also backstage crew for the play Matilda last year, which he really enjoyed.
His favourite part of the day is first thing in the morning where you get to meet your teachers who check in with you and make sure you are prepared for the day. “My Homeroom is like a small-knit community away from my other classes.”

Andy’s favourite class is English with Ms. Moonan where they just finished working on a newly added unit which focuses on the Tony Award-winning play Come from Away. He finds it easy to approach his teachers at CDS as they are great sources of help, and very forthcoming with answers and solutions.

His favourite meal in the Dining Hall are the Tacos and Fajitas and he always looks up lunch in advance. Homework takes about 1.5 hours, and when he’s not studying or at school, he is likely doing some other type of physical activity, including boxing training.
