Our daughter was smiling every day when I dropped her off at CDS and still smiling every day when I picked her back up. And I mean every day… for four years.
School Leadership
Considering the leadership of CDS, it's not surprising that the school continues to develop students with tremendous leadership abilities. We can't say enough about John Liggett, the Head of School. In everything he does, every speech he makes, and any conversation he has, his love for this school and his students is so clearly evident. I think he could run any organization in the world brilliantly. The fact that he chose CDS to be his home means entire generations of students will benefit greatly from his guidance.
Teaching and Faculty
The Parent/Teacher meetings I attended were actually quite emotional for me at times. It’s wonderful to sit there and realize how well a teacher knew my daughter…to know that they really see her.
Academics & Extracurriculars
Most schools are regarded as “just” an academic school or “just” an arts school or a school that focuses on extracurriculars. Somehow, CDS manages to meet the needs of each student regardless of their focus. That is what they mean by education with balance.
Post-Secondary Counselling
Post-Secondary Counselling at CDS is exceptional and so important to a student's future. Mr. Huckvale is a wealth of practical advice and seems to have connections with almost every post-secondary institution. But, what's truly amazing is that he talks about the student's dreams for their future and lays out more than one path for the student to follow. We found that not only encouraging, but inspiring and played a big role in our daughter following her heart.
