Katie Chadsey
SK Teacher in the Junior School
How do you continue learning in your life? What is your professional passion?
I believe Dr. Seuss explained it well when he said, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." I’ve always believed that reading opens doors to new information and understanding. By always seeking new knowledge and learning from various sources, I am continually growing and embarking on journeys to new places, both literally and metaphorically.
My professional passion lies in nurturing young minds and fostering a lifelong love of learning. Seeing the excitement and joy on young children’s faces as they learn, grow and achieve their goals brings me immense joy and fulfillment, fueling my dedication to the teaching profession.
What is one of your favourite interactions with students?
Kindergarten students have a knack for saying the most unexpected and hilarious things. I love engaging in genuine conversations with them, whether it's discussing their favourite animals, sharing stories about their families, or exploring their imaginative ideas about the world.
Favourite Thing about Working at CDS:
My favourite thing about working at CDS is being able to spend my days with my amazing colleagues, students and their families. I have only been working at CDS for less than a year, but I knew it was a truly special place after the first week. So much so that I have my daughter joining the school next year in JK .
Something You’ve Crossed off your Bucket List:
After many years of riding and show jumping horses, I qualified to compete with my horse, Blue Pearl, at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair as one of the top 20 amateur riders in Canada. It fulfilled a lifelong dream and led to my next bucket list item which was to have my horses live in my backyard. My family (husband and two daughters) now live on a small hobby farm with four horses and our dog Simba.
