Teaches Physical & Health Education in the Junior School
How do you continue learning in your life? What is your passion?
I learn from students every day at CDS! Their curiosity sparks my own curiosity, and often I find us searching up answers to things together. I also love to read and am an avid “Jeopardy” trivia fan. I have a lifelong passion for anything involving sports and athletics – particularly hockey!
What is one of your favourite interactions with students?
I love seeing the joy on student’s faces every day in Phys. Ed class while they are being active and doing something they love. I also love the relationships and experiences that coaching and athletic teams afford students. Seeing students interact as teammates and supporting each other through sport is a favourite part of my day.
Favourite thing about working at CDS:
Meeting and getting to know so many families and students, and working alongside incredible teammates, colleagues, and staff members are both at the top of the list. Aside from these, visiting the dining hall at lunch is typically a highlight of the day … the food and staff are both amazing!
Something you’ve crossed off your Bucket List:
I once was privileged to wear a Team Canada hockey jersey for a “university” team Canada. The team was selected from varsity hockey players across Canada and competed in the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey. This was a dream of mine since I was little – and it was a surreal experience! I also was fortunate to play alongside Olympic Team Canada members while playing professional women’s hockey in the former Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL), and was a part of a championship team that won the “Clarkson Cup” (female version of the Stanley Cup, named after Adrienne Clarkson) during my final season. Both experiences I will never forget!
Other than CDS, I support … “Do it for Daron” is a charity that supports youth mental health initiatives. I also used to work at a not-for-profit organization called “Abilities Centre” in Whitby, Ont. The centre offers a variety of recreation programs and promotes inclusion for individuals of all ages with disabilities. Both organizations hold a special place in my heart!
