Joshua Simmonds

Joshua first entered the doors of CDS as a JK student in Ms. Sutherland’s class, and the school quickly became a second home. At all stages of his Lifer journey, Joshua was inspired by so many CDS legends: from Mrs. Lloyd and Mrs. Primeau in JS, to Mr. Sherman and Mr. Garbe in MS, to Mr. Lewis and Mme Colucci in SS (and many more, but there are too many to list them all!). After graduating with the CDS Class of ‘09, Joshua was part of the pioneering cohort in McMaster University’s innovative Integrated Science program.

Returning to CDS as a member of the SS faculty, the school continues to feel like a second home. In the halls of CDS, Mr. Simmonds is known for continuing the tradition of fostering a warm and welcoming classroom environment. He also keeps the countdown of the number of days each year: a tradition inherited lovingly from Mr. (Steve) McCutcheon. From coaching Robotics and Tennis teams to traveling the world on school trips, Mr. Simmonds knows the value of Education with Balance.

Fondest CDS memories: Mr. Bayler closing assemblies by asking: “Anything else for the good of the Junior School?”,   Mr. Davison hatching ducklings in Middle School, and Music Camp in Senior School.
