Everyone Should Experience an Education with Balance

The benefits of a CDS education are exceptional, but we understand it is a significant financial investment to join and remain a part of our community. As a result, and thanks to the generosity of our donors, funds are available to help make an education with balance a reality for families in need of financial assistance.

Like most independent schools in Ontario, CDS is funded 100 per cent through a combination of tuition fees, endowment earnings and annual fundraising and operates as a not-for-profit organization. In order to help you budget for a CDS education for your child, on this page we have outlined the expenses that you can anticipate and the financial resources available here at our school.

If, at any time during the Admissions process you would like to discuss your family's specific scenario, please contact the Office of Admissions to arrange a personal and confidential consultation.

Eberts Entrance Scholarships

These merit-based entrance scholarships of up to $15,000 will be awarded annually to incoming students entering Grades 7 and 8 and Grades 9 and 10 who best exemplify the CDS commitment to education with balance.

Eberts awards will be renewable each year provided students maintain high academic achievement (honour role/80%+) and contribute as active and positive members of the school community.

While all Eberts Entrance Scholarships are based on merit, at least one will be awarded each year on the basis of demonstrated financial need as well.

All applicants must complete and submit the full CDS admission application and scholarship application by the December 1st priority application deadline. If applicable, (consideration for the financial need-based Eberts Entrance Scholarship) the Financial Aid for Canadian Students (FACS) application must also be completed by December 1st.

Award Criteria

  • All applicants must demonstrate strong academic aptitude (minimum 80%/A average) and be actively involved in their community and/or current school.
In addition to engaging in the comprehensive admission process, candidates are required to submit the following by December 1, 2024:

  • The Eberts Entrance Scholarship Application
  • An essay of 500 words or less on how you plan to demonstrate “education with balance” during your time at The Country Day School.

  • Please submit your completed Eberts Entrance Scholarship application, essay and list of awards to admissions@cds.on.ca by December 1, 2024.

Affording CDS

List of 2 items.

  • Endowment

The Country Day School has an established General Scholarship and Bursary Support Program that is currently funded by income generated from Endowment Funds and alternative sources as approved by the Board of Directors. The process and timeline is unique for returning students and new applicants.
  • Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded based on financial need, include an independent third party review and are confidential. All applicants must meet the school’s terms for enrolment to be considered for a bursary. Bursaries demonstrate the school’s commitment to accessibility in providing a variety of applicants with the opportunity to experience a CDS education. The amount of financial assistance awarded is applied as a reduction of tuition fees.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
