Pascal, Cayley, & Fermat Math Contests
On February 28th, a group of 62 Middle and Senior School students rose to the challenge of writing the annual Pascal, Cayley, and Fermat mathematics contests organized by the University of Waterloo.
Certificates of Distinction are earned by those who achieve in the top 25% of participants at CDS and the school medal is awarded to the top score at CDS (please note that all certificates and medals have a minimum cut-off score that is set by the CEMC, and the school medals will be distributed once the shipment arrives).
Pascal Mathematics Contest (grade 9 or below): This year, 15 Senior School students and 28 Middle School students participated in the Pascal contest.

- Liam Gunning '27 (grade 9), with a score of 105
- Anahita Maghsoudi '27 (grade 9), with a score of 106
- Charlize Bianchi '29 (grade 7), with a score of 107
- Skylar Hao '27 (grade 9), with a score of 111
- Mina Matsui '29 (grade 7), with a score of 112
- Kevin Zhai '28 (grade 8), with a score of 120
- Santtu Koskinen '29 (grade 7), with a score of 121
A Certificate of Distinction, her name published on the Pascal Contest Honour Roll, and the school medal was earned by Alice Han '28 (grade 8) with a score of 139.
Cayley Mathematics Contest (Gr. 10 or below): 9 Senior School students participated in the Cayley contest.

- Brooke Powell '26 (grade 10), with a score of 114
- Lucas Colozza '26 (grade 10), with a score of 120
A Certificate of Distinction, and the school medal was earned by Kaitlyn Zhang '26 (grade 10), with a score of 122.
Fermat Contest (Gr. 11 or below): This year, 10 students participated in the Fermat contest.

Certificates of Distinction are awarded to:
- Olivia Budweth '25 (grade 11), with a score of 114
- Jason Liang '25 (grade 11), with a score of 125
A Certificate of Distinction, his name published on the Fermat Honour Roll, and the School Medal was earned by: Frank Fu '25 (grade 11), with a score of 136. Also, as a result of his outstanding achievement, Frank was personally invited by the CEMC to apply to attend the 59th annual Lloyd Auckland Invitational Workshop, which involves a week in June on campus at the University of Waterloo, networking with professors and other talented math students across Canada.
Congratulations to all students who participated in these annual enrichment opportunities. If you would like to know your score on the Pascal, Cayley, or Fermat, as it was not reported in the above results, please speak to your math teacher.
