Grade 4&5 Cross-Country Skiing Trip to Hardwood Hills

Junior School Physical-Education Department
Last week, Mother Nature finally cooperated, giving the Grade 4s and 5s a perfect day for a cross-country skiing field trip to Hardwood Hills.

After gearing up and receiving a lesson on balancing, gliding, stopping, and turning, we set off on the groomed forest trails. The day was filled with laughter, determination, and teamwork as we tackled uphill climbs, picked ourselves up after falls, and encouraged one another while soaring down hills and winding through the trails.
Everyone should be proud of their progress, resilience, and perseverance throughout the day.

Enjoy this short video showcasing our exciting adventure!

*The Grade 6 Hardwood Hills trip has now been cancelled twice due to snow. We are trying our best to reschedule it in the coming weeks - details to follow.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
