Last week, our Health Science Club visited King Animal Hospital, a new, state-of-the-art veterinary referral and emergency hospital that opened in January 2024 north of CDS off 19th Sideroad.
Founded by the Scheinberg family, who are also the founders of Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary and the Dog Tales Charitable Foundation, the hospital provides advanced, compassionate care for animals and operates 24/7 with a team of 200 dedicated professionals.
Specializing in critical care, surgery, neurology, cardiology, rehabilitation, and pain management for dogs and cats, as well as advanced treatment options for horses, King Animal Hospital works in partnership with family veterinarians, supporting them when pets require specialized services or emergency treatment.
Before touring this incredible facility, our Health Science students spoke with Sasha, a registered vet technician (RVT), about the education requirements to become an RVT and about her role in this busy hospital, including administering meds, taking blood, anesthesia, surgery, infection control, nutrition, and counseling with pet owners. Our group ended the day by talking about the importance of understanding the wide range of responsibilities associated with pet ownership before getting a pet.
Thank you to King Animal Hospital for providing this incredible enrichment opportunity!
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
