Congratulations to the cast and crew of Radium Girls!

By Meghan Weinroth ‘26
From November to February, this cast and crew worked hard to prepare for the show. They started with a read-through where they discussed the obstacles that might come up. The large cast of characters, quick changes, and time leaps were some of the topics brought up. Ms. Bevacqua, Ms. Pozzebon, and Ms. Cicchillo even made spreadsheets to figure out which of the cast members would play the many characters still uncasted.
The cast spent the following months blocking scenes and doing character work, while the crew worked on costumes, lights, sound, and projections. Costumes were introduced into rehearsals in January, over a month before the show, due to the complexity of the quick changes. The cast, crew, and teachers involved created solutions to the issues posed since the first week and polished them to pull off a smooth performance.

Radium Girls is not an easy show, especially with a smaller cast than is recommended. However, the show was received incredibly well for all three performances, with multiple audience members remarking on how professional it felt. The audience was taken on an emotional journey filled with both laughter and tears, exploring the nature of humanity.

What started as a group of students and teachers sitting around a table reading a script turned into an impressive production that tells an important story. Many memories were made throughout the process. We will miss the rehearsals, especially Ms. B’s notes from each runthrough. This cast and crew have come so far and grown so much since November, and we can’t wait to see what this group will do next!

Special thanks to Ms. B, Ms. Pozzebon, Ms. Cicchillo, Mr. Hoffstetter, Mr. Marchessault, Ms. Barbachon, Ms. Duff, and Mr. Robertson for guiding the cast and crew during this incredible production.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
