Grade 12's Share Insights with Grade 9 CommTech Class

Joshua Simmonds
This week, our Grade 9 Communications Technology students had the exciting opportunity to connect with two exceptional Grade 12 students: Aidan Scholten ’25 and Mac Walmsley ’25. Both Aidan and Mac are currently enrolled in the Grade 12 Communications Technology course and have used their experiences gained from our ComTech program to help launch their own personal brands and real-world businesses.
During the visits, Aidan and Mac talked about the importance of personal branding and website design, demonstrating how students can use their creative and technical skills to build an online presence. Aidan and Mac offered valuable guidance on what to expect from the next level of the program, the variety of opportunities within the field, and how these skills can translate into postsecondary and career pathways.

Currently, the Grade 9 students are working on developing their own portfolio websites to showcase their personal brands and the content they’ve created in the course. Aidan and Mac’s visit was a perfect example of how the Communications Technology program can empower students to pursue their passions and set themselves up for future success.

The Grade 9 Communications Technology course is new this year; it is a restructuring and rebranding of our former Grade 9 Business Technology course. Mac and Aidan’s visits were a timely resource for our Grade 9s as they undergo the course selection process for next year.

We are excited to see how our Grade 9 students will continue to develop their skills in the course and apply what they’ve learned to shape their personal brands and future careers!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
