Spotlight on Sr. Boys & Girls CAIS Soccer Tournaments
Both Senior Soccer teams were in action last week as the annual CAIS Tournaments were held across Canada – October 16th to 19th.
The CDS Senior Girls traveled to Stanstead College in Quebec for the challenging Division 1 tournament. Despite not achieving the desired results, the team demonstrated resilience and determination. The girls battled hard, managing a tie against The Sacred Heart School of Montreal and a well-deserved victory over local rivals Greenwood College.
Ms. Leacock and Ms. Purdy are proud of the team's grit and teamwork, which were evident throughout the entire tournament, making their coaches proud.
The Senior Boys team did not have far to travel this year for their tournament, which took place at St. Andrew’s College in Aurora. The boys were ready to face tough competition, facing some teams one or two tiers above them.
Across the 6 matches, CDS finished with a respectable 3 wins and 3 losses.
Throughout the tournament, CDS was led by Daniel Di Poce ’25 and Scott Muxlow ’26 on defense. Jack Dilworth ’25 controlled the midfield, while Armaan Patel ’26 continued his strong form contributing significantly with more goals and assists. Despite some players learning the game for the first time, everyone contributed in their efforts, showcasing teamwork and growth on the field.
With a renewed focus on the CISAA Calendar, our Senior Boys head into the playoffs as the top-ranked team, hosting a semi-final at home next month. The goal is simple, lift the championship to finish an incredible season of CDS Soccer.
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
