Lasting Memories at Camp Mini-Yo-We
From September 30 to October 2, our Grade 7 students embarked on an exciting journey to Camp Mini-Yo-We in Huntsville. Over the course of the three days, students had the opportunity to step out of their comfort zones, forge new friendships, and make lasting memories.
Staying in cozy cabins and sharing meals in the camp’s dining hall, students enjoyed a wide range of activities. Highlights included the thrilling high ropes courses, ziplining, pedal go-karts, and competitive games of pickleball. The first evening featured a camp-wide game, while the second night was filled with music, dancing, and board games, offering something for everyone to enjoy.
No camp experience is complete without delicious treats, and students loved visiting the camp's tuck shop for snacks, as well as gathering around the fire to make s'mores. It was a fun-filled adventure, with many students discovering new strengths, overcoming challenges, and growing closer as a grade.
Land Acknowledgment
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
