Ms. Andrea Leacock

Head of Student Life Middle/Senior
Andrea Leacock joined CDS in Fall 2012 as an Associate Teacher in the Middle and Senior School. She quickly transitioned to take on the responsibility of a number of Senior School Social Science and Business classes and is now an enthusiastic member of our Social Science faculty in Middle and Senior. She remains active in our school community year-round as the Director of CDS Summer Camp. Ms. Leacock is heavily involved in our athletics program as well, developing athletes both on and off the field/ice, coaching soccer, hockey, and rugby. She brings many years of hockey experience to CDS, having played for Mount Allison University where she was the recipient of the CIS Marion Hillard Award for outstanding balance in athletics, academics, and community service. Aside from athletics, she is an active part of student life at CDS through our growing leadership program. She has worked as the faculty advisor for Grade Reps and House Captains for eight years in the Senior School assisting in building school spirit, while also advising our Middle School Student Council. Ms. Leacock holds a BA with Honours in Geography from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick and a B.Ed. from the University of Ottawa. She has received her additional qualifications in a number of fields including Special Education, English as a Second Language, Guidance and Careers Studies, and her Honors Specialist in Geography. Ms. Leacock has wanted to be a teacher since she was a young girl and is thrilled to have the opportunity to inspire students to become lifelong learners each day.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
