The CDS U12 Girls Soccer team has been lighting up CISAA this month and sit at 2-0 after defeating St. Clement’s School 7-2 and Bishop Strachan School 4-1. Parents in attendance would agree that the camaraderie and energy among the players is infectious and has helped carry the team this early in the season.
Coach Cooper and Coach Witten are guiding the girls to their early success and Cooper compliments their togetherness. “The girls have incredible school spirit, our experienced players are eager to help out the girls who are new. The entire team is keen to learn and support each other.”
Before every match, the girls recite their own chant as part of their final preparations, “We’re Blue, we’re white, we’re dynamite. We’ve got the power, the speed, to be the #1 team.” The players were happy to recite it for us at this morning’s recess.
Grade 6 student Elina Shah says her favourite part of playing on this team is the energy the team has for each other and the sport.
We can’t wait to watch where this team goes in our Term 1 Athletics calendar – good luck!
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
