S[potlight on Senior Girls' Volleyball Team

By Lisa O’Connor
Last Friday, the Senior Girls’ Volleyball team traveled to St. Catharines to compete in the highly competitive Eden Invitational Tournament. The team put on an impressive performance in pool play, finishing second with three hard-fought victories that secured their spot in the semifinals.

However, as the tournament progressed, injuries began to impact our roster, leaving the team short-handed by the time they reached the semifinal match. Despite their determination and teamwork, the girls were unable to operate at full capacity, ultimately falling short in their bid to advance to the finals.

Our team's effort and resilience in the face of adversity were commendable, and they represented their school with pride. Congratulations to our girls for their strong showing. Coaches Moorleg and O'Connor are proud of their efforts and excited to take on the next challenge as the season continues in the new year! Go Cyclones!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
