CDS Parent Association

Welcome to a new school year! My name is Tracy Muxlow and I am the President of the CDS Parent Association. I joined CDS in 2020 and have a son in Grade 11 and a daughter who is an Alumni. When I first joined the school, I volunteered as a Grade Parent and found it to be such a rewarding experience that I got involved with other volunteer opportunities as well as the Parent Association Executive.
The CDS Parent Association Executive is made up of a small group of enthusiastic parents from all school levels. We are dedicated to building strong school spirit, and encouraging volunteerism and goodwill throughout the community. Working closely with the Office of Community Relations, we are responsible for many different programs at the school, including the New Parent Mentor, Grade Parent Coordination, Preowned Uniform Sale, the CDS Holiday Fair and hosting refreshments at school events - such as the Parent-Teacher interviews and concerts.

We also facilitate opportunities for our parents to interact through community building activities that enhance school spirit and forge new connections. To this end, we are always exploring new ways to involve parents on our amazing campus. Last year we hosted an Autumn Walk on the Back 40 of our beautiful campus, offered a cooking class in the Dining Hall with Chef Richard, and organized a yoga class in the Cyclone Dome.

We are pleased to offer the Walk of the Back 40 once again on Friday, October 18th at 9:00 am. All are welcome and no RSVP is necessary. We encourage you to dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear as it can be wet on the trails. If you have not already done so, please consider coming out to join us at the CDS Tennis Morning on campus on Monday, September 30th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. It will be a fun morning of tennis for all levels of players. Registration is required and there are a few spaces still available.

Lastly, mark your calendars for the CDS Parent Association Holiday Fair taking place on November 28th and 29th. A one-stop, amazing shopping extravaganza featuring a unique line up of vendors and products. Applications for vendors are still being accepted.

If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, please reach out to us. I look forward to meeting you this year!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
